New Year’s Gift from Stacey Joy
Thank you to everyone who helped make 2016 such an unforgettable year.
This year has seen the release of my most accomplished album so far. The Journey Unfolds has been as warmly received as I hoped it would be, all thanks to the hard work and dedication of David McCrae, Matheu Desilva and all the incredible musicians who made up our Silver Gypsy Band. I love and appreciate you guys so much!
Our touring lifestyle continues to grow richer and more fulfilling with every mile. From the Andes to the Kooteneys (to the desert beaches of Baja where I’m writing this message now) we’ve met so many wonderful people. Supportive, soulful spirits who appreciate the importance of music and art in our lives: Keep on shining on!
Special mention this year must go to our brave water protectors in Standing Rock, Dakota, and elsewhere across the globe. Your courage, resolve and dignity in the face of extreme provocation and violence continues to inspire anybody with a beating heart and compassionate mind. The battle was won, but the real work is only just beginning. Let us all do our part to ensure that peace, light, love, good clean water and healthy soil are the legacy we leave for future generations.
I wrote a song about this awakening called Holy Land, and one of the biggest highlights of 2016 was performing this song live on stage with a personal hero of mine: The First Lady of Native American Flute, double Grammy winner, Mary Youngblood.
This video of that performance is my New Year’s gift to you all. I hope you enjoy it.
I wish you all a happy and peaceful 2017.
Much love,
Stacey Joy
Holy Land – lyrics
Close your eyes
And listen,
There beneath the silence,
Secrets softly spoken in the wind
Can you hear
There in the distance,
A song
That’s been playing on since
The early waking light of the first dawn
Sweet water flows,
All is letting go,
Time to remember what we know
What do you say?
All the questions now are falling down,
There’s nothing more to figure out,
What have we come here for
If not to dance?
So let your feet go,
Let your memories flow
And hear this song
That’s been playing all along,
Flowing in the ocean
And swaying in the fields,
Echoed in the mountains
And inside you, can you feel
It’s rhythm in your body,
The lyrics in your mind,
It’s singing in your spirit,
Humming right behind your eyes,
All around
Is this sound
Of the Divine
Feel the earth is moving,
It’s cadence gently soothing
To recall a sacred past
Calling us back
As it moves on in
Won’t you come and take my hand,
When will we realize this all is holy land
So let your feet go,
Let your memories flow,
And hear this song
That’s been playing all along,
Flowing in the ocean
And swaying in the fields,
Echoed in the mountains
And inside you, can you feel
It’s rhythm in your body,
The lyrics in your mind,
It’s singing in your spirit
Humming right behind your eyes
All around
Is this sound
Of the Divine
Close your eyes
And listen,
There beneath the silence,
Secrets softly spoken in the wind
